So here is my take on this month's challenge...which was to alter a book.

I used an old thesaurus book. I painted the outside of the book with Black Gesso and added a metal layer that was embossed with a Tim Holtz Alterations Folder. I used more Black Gesso to "age" the metal then added a torn page of text on top. This text page was inked with two different Dylusion Sprays: Lemon Zest, Vibrant Turquoise and the edges were inked with Black Soot Distress Ink.

I then layered my embellies. I started with Wendy Vecci's roof and window. I added a memory glass from Ranger behind it. This glass was enhanced with an image behind that. I then layered a G45 Butterfly on the upper left. The butterfly was colored with White Gesso then colored with the same sprays. The flower section on the bottom left corner is a melange of Prima flowers, Tim's metal flowers/gears, buttons, a paper flower with black beads in the center and an antique beaded necklace that winds through the flowers with the chain continuing both on the top and bottom. This gave me the opportunity to hook some other antique gems at the top.

I had so much fun with this challenge!! I started working on the pages inside so come on back in the next few days and I will show you an interesting idea for using the pages inside an old book :-)
Be sure to check out Eclectic Paperie to upload your work....you could win a prize!!!
