Eclectic Paperie Challenge...Altered Box

I am thrilled to be playing along with Eclectic Paperie's new eTeam Pick challenge!!! 

Here are all the details:

Welcome to eclectic Paperie’s eTeam Picks Challenge!  The eTeam Picks Challenge is held on the third Thursday of each month and each challenge is an opportunity for you to be
inspired by one of our eTeam’s creations, this week it’s Marjie, to
share your work, and to be entered into our challenge prize drawing!

The eTeam Picks Challenge is all about inspiration and
having fun!  During each challenge one of
the eTeam members will share a topic, word, technique, sketch, or product that
will become the foundation for your creation. 
This challenge is all about mixing it up and just enjoying the creative
process of feel free to share a journal page, card, scrapbook project, mini
album….Anything goes!  We want to see
your work and hear about your inspiration! 
All of those who play along with our challenge will be entered into a
prize drawing for a $15.00 gift certificate to the eclectic Paperie store.

So grab your supplies and play along!  Here are a few things to keep in mind for
this challenge…

-You do not have to use products sold in the eP store…but we
do love it when you do!

-Share a direct link to your creation, not just your blog,
using the Linky Tools feature at the end of this post.  If, for any reason, the Linky Tools doesn’t
cooperate, please add a link in the Comments section of the blog.

-When uploading to any online galleries, please use any of
the following keywords; eP, eclectic Paperie or eTeam Pick Challenge.  Link your creations to the eP blog.

-If you’d like to be considered as one of our featured
projects and be entered into our prize drawing, please be sure to add your link
no later than 6pm EST on Jan 31st.

This challenge given to us by one of our designers Marjie was to alter a regular old box..(I guess we had to think outside the box...LOL I could not resist!!!)

This is one of my favorite things to do...to look at objects differnently.  It really gets the creative juices flowing...I LOVE IT!!

Well here is my take...

I used a cream cheese box (left over from holiday cookies) and made a jewelry box.

It matches my bedroom perfectly :-)

I added lots of embellies from my stash...gotta love those Tim Holtz Feet...they really made a difference with this design.  Petaloo Flowers,pearls, a Tim Holtz metal embellie on the front, and Prima Swirls...voila!! It was pretty easy.

I used cream velvet paper on the inside that I had left over from a million years ago...it worked out perfectly.

The paper line is from Prima.  The important piece to the alteration was the use of Black Gesso and White Gesso.  I really needed to cover up all the colored print on the box before decorating it and the gesso worked great!!! Black for the outside and White for the inside.  I also used Matte Medium to adhere the paper to the box.  I did add thin chip board to the back of the paper before gluing it to the box.  It gave the box some strength.  I added it to the inside and out...now it is rock solid LOL!!

Now you can see why I needed some heavy coverage with the gesso...hahaha!

I hope I inspired you to look at things differently...you may never know what you can come up with.

My hubby always tells me that he thinks my mind is a scary place because I see elements/objects in totally different way than most do...as long as I don't see dead people LOL

Valentine "5 Things I Love About You" Class

Good Afternoon Folks

We just received 6 inches of heavy wet snow here in Hampton Beach NH.

I am going to be sore tomorrow from shoveling it...LOL

So I thought I would share something to warm your heart...

This is a class I will be teaching at Wholly Scrap! on Jan 26th.

I used the Authentique "Lovely" line and a Maya Road box...isn't she cute :-)

Each of the 5 cards are made of chipboard and have a secret pocket for those hidden notes or pics and are numbered 1-5.

This is a perfect opportunity to tell someone how much you really care for them because you get to spell it all out...on 5 different cards.

Here is the first card pulled out.

Canvas Artwork

Eclectic Paperie is hosting Altered Art Challenges...Get Altered with Eclectic Paperie!!!

This months challenege involves using canvas...so here is my take
This is an 8x8 canvas that I painted with Salmon Paint and inked with Distress Inks: Tumbled Glass, Broken China, and Pine Needles .  I also used a stencil Mini Peacock to enhance my beautuful lady.
Here is a close-up.  I used Graphic 45 paper "Ladies Diary" to decorate my canvas.  The title, lady, and flowers are all fussy cut and layered with foam tape.
Some areas are 3 layers deep.  I added pearls, swirl gems, hand made pleated paper flowers, and Art Parts Corners and Flourishes on the corners.
