Good Morning!
This will be a quick post today.
I have 2 fashion shows to help run in Boston tonight and my daughter's graduation party to finish planning for this Saturday.
I should weight about 90 pounds with all the running around I do LOL
Anyway I thought I would share the favors I made for Elizabeth's Party (she is graduating from Johnson & Wales: Culinary Arts).
I searched all the Dollar Stores yesterday and came up with an oven mitt, wooden spoons, measuring spoons, and I made a book of spices.
The mitt I curled around and pinned (with a safety pin) creating a fold to fit the spoons. I attached the measuring spoons around the largest wooden spoon. I tried to keep the colors all generic because we have males attending the party. I thought Red, Black and White was generic enough (they are my favorite colors after all).
The spice book was something I made on my own. I wanted to add another item to the gift without the big $$ tag. I thought of what a Cuinary Artist would use everyday and came up with spices!
We all season our food to some degree and thought it would be fun to create my own little spice book.
I used the new Culinary Paper from Teresa Collins.
The cut I made measures 4 1/2 by 8.
I rounded the corners and scored at the 31/2 point from both sides with my "Score-It".
I love this tool, the measurements are right there for you to score perfect lines for decoration, cards, books, tags, ppockets, folders etc...
On the top of this book I added a medallion.
It has three layers; the bottom is a Marvy Punch of Black Sparkle Paper from DCWV and the next layer is a smaller Marvy Punch of Red Sparkle Paper. The top is a new stamp from Just Rite, remember the circle blocks where you can add different rings and center sentiments....
well these fit perfectly with my theme.
The ribbon is another culinary item, this one from Creative Imaginations.
I used foam tape to raise the last black scallop leaving a space for the ribbon to run through underneath.
Tie the ribbon and the outside is done.
Now the inside...
It is not quite done yet (shame on me) I had to watch Dancing With the Stars last night!!!
Can you believe who won???
Anyway I made up packets of spices.
The left is a family recipe of a Meat Rub. I purchased large containers of what I needed at the dollar store and mixed up a big batch. I got small zip closure bags and filled them up. I plan to adhere a label tomorrow on the top of the bag explaining what it is and how to use it.
The right side is more of the same. This time I used all salts and peppers. I have learned through Elizabeth that not all salt and paper is created equally. Multi-colored pepper is fabulous!! What a taste, and Sea Salt is better for you. So that is what went into my last packet, Multi-colored pepper (corns and crushed) and Sea Salt.
Once again I purchased a large quantity at the food store (the dollar store does not carry stuff like this) and mixed it up and filled the packets. Once again I will be creating labels to finish off my inside.
Luckily the paper was double-sided.
I hope these do not look too "wedding showerish"??
I have to get to work.
Do not forget
Wholly Scrap!

That is where I get all my stuff LOL
