I made an envelope book for a friend who just had surgery...yuck!

I hope this lifts her spirits :-)

I have been waiting for the sun to return so that I could take pics...so here we go.......

I have a new book for you.  This was made out of paper bags!!

I had soo much fun with this one!!

Lots of stuff from my "stash" that I could use up.

The paper bags are from Michael's.  They are a better quality than the regular lunch bags and really lend to making the book look good.

The papers are from Graphic 45 and Basic Grey.  The embellies vary, some are Tim Holtz, Prima, and Melissa Frances.  The TRIMS!!! Most are decorative trim from an upholstery business....Thanks Judy :-)

Good Morning Folks

Yes, I am still in my Mini Book making mood.

I think they make great gifts, and I love having them on hand.

So here is my newest creation...

 
  Kits of this book that are ready for sale at Wholly Scrap!

Everything you need to make this book (and some extra goodies) are all kitted up ready for you to make your own.

The book itself needed the Bind-It-All to put it together so I decided to make the book for you...yes the book comes all completed in the kit!

All you have to do is make the tags and decorate the pages!!!

So here are the directions for putting the pages together...

once again here is the front...

You will notice that your pre-made book has the front chip board piece painted on the edges only.  This is so you can glue your patterned paper in the center and have the black paint on the edge.  I did this because I am tired of having my pages peel away from the edge of my books.

So from the black lined paper cut a 7x4 piece and glue it to the front chip board piece.  The Sweet sticker can now be applied.  I ran the ribbon all around the page and knotted it in the front.  I added a layered flower with a brad on the center.  The brad can go all the way through the Chip board to get adhered or if you prefer brad it then glue it down.  Add you heart sticker..done

The front inside page gets the same paper treatment.  A 7x4 black lined paper glued down, you will have to slide it under the ribbon.  Add a sticker and a layered flower.  You have a pile of fabric flowers in your kit.  You can layer them as shown or make up your own combos.  They all got a black brad (included in the kit) in the center to hold them together.

The first page of the book and all the pages that follow are made up of slots for tags.

 
  Here is the first page with the tags taken out.

First you have to add your patterned paper to the white undecorated page.  These pages were made with regular size 10 envelopes so you will see each pocket section defined clearly.  Cut a 3 1/4 x 4 piece of black swirl paper and adhere it to the base pocket of the page.  The cut a 2 3/4 x 4 piece from the flocked pink damask paper and glue that down to the second pocket square.  Here is a little trick:  When gluing these squares down slide the cut piece you are gluing down into the pocket a bit so that the pocket itself stays nice and secure.  The measurements I am giving you allow for you to do this easily.

The third piece of patterned paper: the black lined  gets cut 4x2 1/2 and glued down.  Your tags for this page are the black hounds tooth tag, this gets punched out of the tag sheet, the pink antique tag, cut this one of the three out of the sheet provided and the back tag gets cut from the black card stock it measures 3 1/2 x 5 1/2.  The side pocket tag 4 1/2 x 3 3/4 this gets cut from the pink dot paper.  I rounded the corners with my punch.  Add your flowers, ribbons and stickers.  For the top black tag I added a ribbon pull by cutting and folding the pink and white ribbon.  I stapled these on and covered the staples with the mini sparkle flowers.

Here is the page with the tags all out.
 
Lets work on the left side first.  Cut a 4 x 6 1/4 piece of pink flocked damask paper and adhere (remember to slide it into the pocket a bit while adhering it down).  Cut a piece of black swirl patterned paper 4 x 1 1/4 and adhere it to the front of the pocket.  The right side of the page is exactly like the previous page, follow those directions.

Onto the tags...

The left side tags....Punch the large lined pink folder from you kit out.  I cut this piece into three tags.  I kept the tab sticking out to the right so that the lines are going from left to right (as if you were going to write on them). So this folder measures 11 x 7 keep the 11 inch length going from left to right and cut it into three sections so that you get three tags 4 x 7...4 x 7 and the last tag will be 3 x 7 with the tab sticking out to the right.  I rounded the corners with a punch.

Use one of the lined tags for this big pocket.  The smaller tag gets cut from the black swirl paper (you will find a manila tag in your kit as a sample size...trace it and cut it out).  The right side of the book tags are similar to the first page cut a pink antique tag out from your kit, punch the pink tag out from your kit, cut a black tag out from the black card stock 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 and cut a pink tag out from the pink dot paper 4 1/2 x 3 3/4 and round the edges if desired.  Add your flowers, stickers and ribbon as shown.

You know the routine by now...add the patterned paper, tags and embellies exactly as you did before.

You can see it is much of the same.  Follow the previous directions.

The back page you will notice is painted on the edges, just like the front cover it up with the black lined patterned paper.  The back of the book has been painted in black and does not need anything added.

You will notice that you can see my staples and brads from the reverse side of my pages, I plan to cover them up with my mini sparkle flowers.  I left them exposed for you to see how it all went together. You will have extra mini flowers in your kit to do that.

I have to fill you in on the new QuicKutz Release!!

QuicKutz has not been impressing me lately....however they really scored BIG with this new set!!!!

SOOOOO Many different templates to play with!!

You can make A2 size cards, mini cards, stitch lines, flowers, letters,  WOW!

I had a few minutes this morning to play and came up with a few samples for you

A few pieces of card stock and SHAZ-ZAM!!

 (as one of my friends would say)

I love the mini cards...think of gift sets, table place cards, gift tags OMG!!

New Kit "Party!!"

Good Morning Folks

The inspiration bug has really bitten me lately!!

I have made another book and kitted it for sale through Wholly Scrap!

Yes Sandra, another book, I am sorry that is where my inspiration is leading me right now.

I made this book for a special friend who just had a Birthday Party.  It was the "Big"...50....yikes thank God I am not there yet someone may have to sedate me when it comes around LOL

Anyway a special friend deserves a special gift....I have not loaded the pics to his party in yet..but I will....don't rush me I have been busy :-)

Here we go....

How cute!!! I love the hanging tags.....not hanging "chads"  LOL

The book is a Sarah Binder and I painted the edges with Watermelon Acrylic Dabber Paint.  This paint is awesome because it has a felt pad on the top of the paint bottle so that you do not need a brush...cool!! It is not included with your kit, but available for sale if you need it. If paint is not your thing then you could ink the edges instead or leave it plain.

Cut a piece 71/4 x 41/2 of patterned paper for the cover, round the edges if you wish and glue it on.  Peel your sticker "Party" and adhere it to brown card stock paper, trim out, and adhere down.  Glue the white lined stars onto their coordinating chip board shapes and then glue those down to the book using foam tape.  Do not forget the bling.  I have punched three holes for you to add the colored stamped round hanging tags.  Thread these on through the holes like you would if you were putting a key on a ring.

On to the inside... Cut two 7 1/4 x 41/2 Blue Dot Bo Bunny Paper pieces.

Round the edges and Glue one to the inside cover and one to the back inside cover.

You can now add your brown/red/white ribbon all the way around the book from inside to outside to cover the edges of the paper.  You can see that I covered were the ribbon meets up in the inside with stickers.

Apply stickers and buttons as shown on the inside cover.  The ring comes from your stiker sheet and has been raised with foam tape.  To get the sticky off the back of the ring before you add the foam tape apply baby powder directly to the sticky part.  This way you can treat it as a frame and not as a sticker.
These manila pockets come with your kit.  They are great.  I added pull out tags for photos or journaling from brown card stock they measure 3 1/2 x 6 1/2. You will need to cut 5 of these. They needed tab pulls so I made these great tabs from an old Sizzix die.

Here they are step by step:

here is what you get in the kit

score along the black line and fold...place a piece of lined paper (in your kit) in between the folded piece

using a foam mat and piercer (I use old thick foam that once had brads in it and a big thumb tack) pierce through the three holes and put in your brads.

Trim the lined paper around the tab (you can ink the edges if any white shows)

flip it over and add foam tape on the part shown...the part with the brad legs will slide over the edge of the pocket for a nice look.  You will need to make three of these.  The other two inserts get a red ribbon tab pull.

The paper on top of the pocket measures 3 1/4 x 6 you will be cutting 10 of these from your patterned paper in your kit.

I tied ribbon around the entire pocket so that you will see it from the back also.

Here are the next pages.  Paper cut throughout the rest of the book is 3 1/4 x 6.  Choose your patterns as you wish they are double sided!!

The top half gets decorated with a circle sticker on top of your brown circle punch.  I added a button with twine.  The bottom gets embellished with paper clips, red/white ribbon all around the pocket and knotted, button with twine and the inside pull out was cut from brown card stock just like the first one but I added red ribbon as a pull and stapled it on. Add a layered green tag to the top if you wish (they are included).

Here are the next two pages, follow the directions that I gave you for the first two then add your embellies.

Here are the next pages.  I used a chip board arrow and inked it up with Distress Photo Vintage and Barn Door Red.  You can use any inks to color it or leave it plain.

Red and Black Book Instructions

Good Morning Folks

I had so much fun with the last book kit that I had to do another one!!

I believe that last book has sold out :-(

Once again Shari Carroll over at Hero Arts has come up with a wonderful design idea, check out my last blog to see the video on how this book gets made.  The nice part about this kit is that I made the book for you!!  All you have to do is play with the oodles of goodies to decorate it.

Instructions....Here we go....

These are the first two pages.  Please do all your ribbon pieces first.  You need to thread the ribbon through the spine hole and around the whole page and knot it. Go through the whole book and do that now.  Use these pics as a guide for which ribbon/twine to use and where. The tan shaped chip board piece is in your kit, add the rub-on to the bottom corner.  Add your scallop circle and sentiment.  On the front of the acetate add the gems that came with the rub-on, flowers and the circle sentiment.

These are the next two pages.

I pulled the tags out for you to see.  The red trimmed tag gets punched out of your kit.  This is one piece, I just cut it in half.  I added lace tabs, stickers, and flowers to the tags.  I stapled the flowers on and cover the staple up with the little black flower on top.  I added the scallop sticker strip to the top of the pockets.  I also added the sticker tabs to the page edges.  I staple these because they tend to un-glue after time.

These pages are pretty easy.  All these pieces are pre-made in your kit.

Love these pockets!!

I pulled them out for you to get a better view.  Once again all the pieces are there.  Layer the grid paper on top of the chip board cutout and glue.  Add these pieces to the two punch out black/word tabbed cards in your kit.

Layer the flowers:green, black felt, and red/black gem.  The tag gets a layered flower and a sticker.

Here are the next two pages.  The right side patterned paper will be different (I made a mistake when making the original...ooops).

The left side gets a pre-made brown/cream tag glued down.  I added a scallop brown paper punch and a bird sticker (I layered this with foam tape).  I added the yellow hanging tag by tying twine around the jump ring and stapling it to the tag.  I added a sticker and a flower to finish it off.  The other side gets a red envelope that comes in your kit.  This envelope is double sided (you can use the white side or the red). You have to fold it and glue the sides together, it is very easy. Add your sticker and sentiment.

remember these will be different paper

I pulled the tags out for a better view.  Start with added the red long sticker trim to the pocket edge.  Then cut two squares of your numbered/lined paper 5x61/2 and add your sentiments and flowers. Make sure when you cut these that you do not cut off the numbers parts (unless you want to). The black patterned tag needs to be punched out and embellished with a flower and hanging red tag (use the same technique as before for adhering this tag on).  On the pocket I added a black scallop circle with a birdhouse circle sticker to it.  I used foam tape to adhere it down.

These pages are pretty easy.  The hanging tags at the top were tied on with twine through two small holes I punched through the paper.

 

 Here are the tags pulled out.  These all need to be punched out of you kit.  I cut the red/white smaller one in half to get the two pieces.  The other two need to be cut down to fit in the pocket.  They measure 5x61/2.  Be sure to not cut off the tabbed part!!  You can also cut them a bit longer so that they stick out of your book top....5x71/2...try it!

Add your stickers and flowers.  The canvas tags are pre-made you can use them alone as tags (put powder on the back to remove the sticky part) or adhere them to the existing tags, you are the designer!

These last two pages are pretty easy.  I used my last two brown scallop circles, yellow punched circle, stickers and foam tape for the round embellishments.  The others are stickers.

I have been hard at work both with school stuff and paper crafting.

I came across this new book technique that I thought was just awesome!!

I have really been into mini books lately!!

Hero Arts has a video on how to actually make the book that I am about to show you. Shari Carroll over at Hero Arts is so creative...check it out here.

I have packaged all the goodies up for you along with the book already made!!  Call Wholly Scrap for yours!!

Here are all the inside pages with a few directions.  It is pretty self explanatory, but if you have any questions e-mail me and I will do the best I can to clarify what I did.

Stickers, ribbon and chip board make up these first two pages.  It is tough to get a clear page to work from front to back so I glued the square with round hole chipboard on the front of the dotted acetate and then layered the matching chipboard piece on the backside.  The flower works the same way, I put one on the front of the acetate and then one on the other side of the acetate to cover up the glue dot.  Stickers adorn the brown page.

These are the next two pages.

If you watch Shari's video you will see how the pockets get made and how to thread the ribbon.  The ribbon threads through the spine hole all around the page and then knotted. I suggest you go through the book and do all the ribbon parts first!! I used the brown scallop ribbon to finish the top of the pocket off be sure not to glue the pocket down.

Here are the tags pulled out for you to see.  The tags got chip board pieces, and flowers.  The flowers are layered and stapled in the center which gets covered by a gem.  You must cut the lined paper 5x61/4 and add a sticker to the top.  The other side has two calender pieces that come in your kit.I added stickers and a ribbon tab.  Do not forget to add the ribbon tabs to the tags.

Here are the next pages. 

Glue the white envelope to one side and add the chipboard circle. The other side get another chip board piece, gems and a sticker.

Hopefully you have done all the ribbon threading.  Add lace to the top of the left pocket.  Cut more of your lined paper 5x61/4 add stickers and a lace tab.  The other pocket gets more calendar pieces.  Add a flower and a sticker tab.  I like to staple the sticker tabs (they tend to un-glue after a few days).

These pages are pretty easy!!

 I love the tags within the spine!!

I stapled a tab to the edge (you may need to trim it), this comes with the calendar pieces. I added these edge tabs throughout the book.

These pockets are fun!!

Add your scallop ribbon and make your tags.

 I pulled the calender pieces out for you to see how I got them to be staggered in the pocket.  I added paper to the backs to make them longer.  You will have extra paper in your kits so you can do this.  The brown piece measure 31/2x61/4, the green piece 31/2x5.  Be sure to staple the sticker tabs.

This one is pretty easy.

 The last two pages are more calendar pieces, ribbon, flowers and chipboard.
